In the past few days, rumors have been rampant that Fidel Castro has died. Val Prieto at Babalu is rightfully excited that possibility -- see

here. Also, the U.S. has stepped up efforts to fund dissidents, which has greatly
annoyed Cuban officials. It is perhaps typical Communist paranoia that they are so enraged by foreign support for freedom-loving Cubans, but it is perhaps a sign that they are on edge for another reason: the loss of their caudillo.
If the reports are true, then much speculation will be given to the cause of Castro's death; it is always thus when a Stalinist leader goes to the great gulag in the sky. As a service to rumor-mongers everywhere, Babalu offers the
