It All Starts With Hamas

The Washington Post provides a timeline of tensions between Israel and its enemies. It all begins with Hamas winning the Palestinian elections in January.

The last entry is rather duplicitous: "Israel broadens Gaza offensive and cuts the strip in two. Attacks, including an air raid that kills nine family members, take the Palestinian toll from the offensive to well over 70."

Left unmentioned is that this is the raid that struck the house where Hamas fugitives had gathered.

Ha'aretz reports that Hezbollah claims to have destroyed an Israeli tank, and that they are claiming the kidnapped soldiers cannot be freed by military action, but only by a release of Palestinian prisoners. They also confirm that Israel is planning a widespread mobilization. (Via Israellycool, who continues his live blog of events in Israel.)
