The Nicaraguan government may soon be led once again by Daniel Ortega. Ortega is a favorite of Venzuela's Hugo Chavez. Should he win, he will be the first of Hugo's little friends to win an election since Bolivia's Evo Morales.
The government of Chicago has proven itself either more effective at fighting crime, or its citizens have proven themselves less adept at killing one another: the Chicago murder rate is down for the first six months of 2006.
